Debutantes and Masters CommissionMotto: “Daily Magnify Christ”
Mission: The Mission of the 6th Episcopal District Christian Debutante-Master Commission (CDMC) is to prepare young men and women for responsible leadership in their homes, churches, schools and community by teaching and implementing the prescribed Debutante-Master curriculum and activities. Purpose: The purpose of the 6th Episcopal District CDMC is to introduce young people to Christian society and celebrate their transition to adulthood that many cultures consider “Rite of Passage”. Statement: The Christian Debutante and Master ceremony was inaugurated as a Christian rite by the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1952 at the thirty-fourth General Conference in Chicago, Illinois. It was originated by Ms. Julma B. Crawford under the Division of Christian Education. This dedication has been a feature of every General Conference since 1952. The ceremony has been conducted as a part of a number of Annual Conferences and Episcopal Districts. The Christian Debutante-Master Ceremony is held in a Christian Church setting whereby young ladies and gentlemen entering adulthood are introduced to the church society and the community. During the ceremony, the young Christian Debutantes and Masters dedicate their lives and vow to continue greater service for Christ and mankind. The Christian Debutante-Master Ceremony is an extension of the Young People’s Division of the African Methodist Episcopal Church; it merely embraces the youth around the age of sixteen to twenty-two, and prepares them for the crossover. The crossover point in the hearts and minds of the youth. During this spectacular moment, the youth are introduced as young Christian adults, to the church society and community publicly. To God be the Glory, great things He has done and is doing right now. And for this “We give Him the praise.” |
